pwd failing in kernel menu

using pwd in kernel menu results in the failure described below

OS/161 kernel [? for menu]: pwd
    vfs_getcwd failed (Function not implemented)`
    Operation took 0.089965320 seconds
Menu command failed: Function not implemented

I thought vfs_getcwd is implemented for us, I am clueless to what I should do. Any suggestions?

retested the same command, it works only so long as you have not changed the directory (i.e if you had not used cd ). cd does not fail which indicates that the directory name specified via the kernel menu is correct (or does it ?)
In order:
1- getting current working directory in default directory on kernel boot up via the menu.
2- trying to change directory to the /kern directory and succeeding which indicates it does exist.
3- Trying to get the current working directory again and failing.
4- Going back in the tree
5- Trying to get the current working directory again and Succeeding.
